Still need 2022 coverage?
Since the Open Enrollment Period for this year is over, you can only enroll in or change an ACA health plan if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) is a time outside the yearly Open Enrollment Period when you can sign up for health insurance. You can still enroll in or change a 2022 health insurance in 2 ways:
- A Special Enrollment Period due to a life change – If you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to a life event such as losing other coverage, getting married, or having a baby.
- Medicaid, CHIP, or a new SEP based on income – If you qualify for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). You can apply at any time.
“Depending on your Special Enrollment Period type, you may have 60 days before or 60 days following the event to enroll in a plan,” said Juan Carlos “JC” Doitteau, President at Insurance Pro.
